Minnie is the Decommissioning Director in a Wood. She is a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Member of the Decommissioning Steering Committee for Offshore Energies UK and is Chair of DLG/Member Board of Directors for Decom North Sea. Minnie combines over 25 years of engineering experiences in the energy and construction industry along with business development skills in the execution of major international projects. Minnie expands Wood’s decommissioning services both in the North Sea, and internationally in Europe, Australia, Middle East and Gulf of Mexico. She is passion about creating innovative technical and commercial solutions for clients.

Lee Hanlon has over 20 years’ oil and gas industry experience gained through multiple engineering and management roles in commissioning, operations, maintenance and decommissioning, for a variety of oil and gas companies and contractors across Europe Lee is the CEO of CessCon Decom, a decommissioning service provider established in 2018 to deliver safe, innovative, cost-effective and environmentally responsible decommissioning services with a strong focus on the circular economy As CEO, Lee has grown CessCon Decom into a global decommissioning service provider with operations in the UK, Scandinavia and South East Asia  Lee has a Master’s Degree in Engineering Management and has been part of Decom North Sea’s Leadership Group for several years. He is committed to developing new methodologies towards his goal of achieving the highest possible reuse and recycling rates of oil & gas infrastructure, further contributing towards establishing the UK as a global leader in the decommissioning sector

Iain is a Chartered Engineer with 17 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry. He has broad-based technical knowledge, with relevant experience working in Well design and construction, Well Intervention, and Well decommissioning within Operator and Contractor organisations. He has recently joined Stena Wells from RSRUK, where he held the position of Wells Engineering Manager, responsible for the design and planning of new Wells, Well workovers, and Well decommissioning deliverables.

Iain has a First Cass Master of Engineering with Honours in Electrical And Mechanical Engineering from The University of Edinburgh. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers. He is also registered as a European Engineer and an International Professional Engineer. He is an active member of the OEUK, currently co-chairing the Well Operators Abandonment Network.

Suzie Coull is a Business Adviser at OEUK as a part of the Supply Chain and Operations team. She supports OEUK’s decommissioning forums, groups and networks by taking an action-orientated approach to communicating the voice of the UK’s offshore oil and gas decommissioning industry to a wide variety of stakeholders including government and other nations and industries. Suzie has a HND in Mechanical Engineering, an honours degree in Business Management and has qualifications in the Regulatory Aspects of Decommissioning and Data Analytics. Prior to joining OEUK, Suzie spent eight years specialising in rigless subsea well decommissioning with a microenterprise project consultancy.

Deirdre was appointed CEO of Offshore Energies UK (OEUK) in May 2015. She has an LLB Hons in Scots Law and has extensive experience as a senior business leader in the global oil and gas and energy industry, both upstream and downstream.

As OEUK CEO, she signed the landmark North Sea Transition Deal with the UK government that is helping to deliver the low carbon energy development needed to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, while delivering energy security. As CEO, she drove the organisation’s scope extension to include hydrogen, carbon capture and offshore wind, as well as oil and gas.

Deirdre is currently a Non-Executive Board member of Scottish Water and a Board Member of Opportunity North East. She is also a member of the UK Government’s North Sea Transition Forum; HMT’s Oil and Gas Industry Fiscal Forum; the Scottish Government’s Energy Advisory Board; and the Women’s Business Council, a UK Government body focused on increasing women’s contribution to economic growth.

Deirdre was awarded an OBE for her services to the oil and gas Industry in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2018, an Honorary Degree from Robert Gordon University and a fellowship from the North East of Scotland College.

Richard (Ricky) Thomson joined OEUK as Decommissioning Manager in April 2022. He leads the OEUK’s focus on decommissioning, taking an action-orientated approach to communicating the voice of the UK’s offshore energies decommissioning sector to a wide variety of stakeholders including government and other nations and industries. As part of his remit he works closely with industry, regulators and the UK and Scottish Governments to develop an efficient cost-effective decommissioning capability, sharing best practice and promoting that expertise at home and abroad. He is also custodian of the Industry’s decommissioning guidelines and leads OEUK’s industry forums and workgroups to deliver incentives, respond to government consultations, engage with stakeholders and promote industry dialogue.

 

Ricky joined OEUK from Houston where he was Project Manager / Decommissioning Manager for OXY Gulf of Mexico as well as a consultant for OXY’s Low Carbon Venture / Enhanced Oil Recovery work.  He has over 15 years’ experience in the energy sector in the engineering and management of EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation & Commissioning), PMC (Project Management Contract) services for both operating and contracting companies worldwide. Ricky’s expertise covers decommissioning areas including subsea (deep & shallow), enhanced oil recovery, CCUS (Carbon Capture Utilisation & Storage), installation of subsea/fixed and floating systems plus IMR (Inspection, Maintenance & Repair) disciplines. Ricky has worked in a multitude of locations worldwide including Middle East, United Kingdom, Australia, America and South East Asia.

Ricky is a Chartered Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) and recently held the post of Chairman of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in Texas. He is also a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). Personal interests include golfing and snooker/pool.

Mike has 15 years experience in the marine sector with various commercial and contract roles on some of highest profile Marine, Oil and Gas and Decommissioning projects.

He is a legally qualified quantity surveyor by trade and adds qualifications as an adjudicator and expert witness to his credentials.

He was part of the successful bid team that brought the Shell Brent single lift project to Teesside.

He joins Atlas having assembled a team capable of delivering any decommissioning project.

Mike brings a tenacious pedigree to the negotiation table...A trait that is also seen when he’s rolling on the mats as part of his Martial Arts training.

Tom is a Senior Civil Servant and Director in the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).  He was appointed OPRED Chief Exec in September 2021.  Since joining the then DTI in 2005, Tom has held a variety of roles spanning the energy system, industrial policy and corporate finance and served as a UK diplomat in Beijing.

Donald Taylor was appointed Managing Director for TAQA’s European oil and gas business in November 2016. Joining TAQA in July 2009, Donald previously held the roles of Operations Director, HSSEQ Director and Production Manager. During his 34-year career in the oil and gas industry he has held various key positions both offshore and onshore working for Maersk, BHP Petroleum and Conoco (UK) Ltd. Donald is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a bachelor’s in civil engineering from The University of Glasgow.

Pauline Innes is Head of Decommissioning for the North Sea Transition. She has worked in decommissioning for seven years, initially as Director for Decommissioning in the Offshore Petroleum Regulator for the Environment and Decommissioning before joining the NSTA in late 2019. She has a background in the public sector previously working for the Scottish Government.

Contract Stewardship Manager working as part of the NSTA Supply Chain Team, prior to joining the NSTA I worked in industry as a Project Manager providing access solutions, construction services, fabric maintenance, and cutting solutions for major offshore projects such as hook-ups, turnarounds, and decommissioning. I'm also in my final year of studying an MSc in Decommissioning at Aberdeen University.

Over 40 years’ experience in offshore construction and decommissioning projects working as an Operator (BP, Chevron, OXY), Contractor (B&R, WorleyParsons) and Entrepreneur (TST, WINMAR). Win has as BSCE from Georgia Tech and an MSCE from the University of Houston.

Industry recognized as an expert in offshore decommissioning and reuse. Recently completed +40,000MT Miller Decom project offshore UK. Managed the decommissioning of 250+ offshore facilities and 30+ reuse projects in the Gulf of Mexico. Global work experience includes offshore decommissioning and reuse projects in the Gulf of Mexico, North Sea, West Africa, California, Alaska, Southeast Asia and South America. Championed for 30+ years the environmentally sound and cost-effective disposal of obsolete platforms through placement in state sanctioned “Rigs-to-Reefs” programs. Chair of the IOGP Decommissioning Committee.

Dillan Perras joined Stena Wells as Director in June 2022. He leads the newly formed company focusing on delivery of Well Construction and Decommissioning projects for the operator community.  Previous to joining Stena Wells Dillan worked with Talisman Energy / Repsol / Repsol Sinopec Resources for over 16 years - working in the UKCS, Peru and Canada land operations - culminating with four years as Drilling & Completions Manager in Aberdeen.

In his role at Stena Wells Dillan brings the operator and the drilling contractor together to offer a unique drilling & decommissioning combination to the market. 

He is a Chartered Engineer with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Aberdeen - Dillan was co-chair for Rev 6 of the Well Decommissioning Guidelines and is a sitting member of the current OEUK work group.

Caroline has worked on several Abandonment campaigns throughout her career to date, including the Brent Decommissioning project in several positions– as an Offshore engineer, as onshore Design and Operations, as a Contract Manager, Well Operations Team Lead (Operations Superintendent) and Well Engineering Team Lead. Caroline is passionate about responsible, safe and efficient well abandonment, sharing lessons and her experience with others and finds it a very interesting, challenging and exciting part of the industry.

I have worked in the upstream oil and gas industry since 1976 gaining a degree in Mechanical engineers and MBA from RGU in Aberdeen. Trained in drilling engineering and as a drilling supervisor by Chevron and since leaving Chevron in 1996 worked in internationally in 10 countries with 14 operators and service companies and recently worked for the Australian regulator as well integrity manager where my team prepare the P&A guidance for industry. After returning from Australia and prior to joining Net Zero Technology Centre I performed abandonment projects in the SNS, CNS and WOS as superintendent / project manager. 

Calum is a Chartered Engineer with a diverse range of experience across the energy sector. In his role at NZTC he is working with new and emerging technologies to drive efficient and effective operations within the energy industry. Supporting the vision to build on the UKCS knowledge, data, and infrastructure to enable the transition to a net zero North Sea, Calum is passionate about the full potential the future energy mix has to offer. Especially in the areas associated with renewables and alternative energies. He is actively working with multiple stakeholders across academia and industry with the ambition to launch a National Centre for Geothermal in Scotland.

Javier is based in Aberdeen and has managed the region’s Offshore Projects Group at Oceaneering since May 2020. He graduated with honours in Mechatronics from the National University of Engineering. In addition, he earned a master’s degree with distinction in Energy Management from the ESCP Business School.

Javier began his career with Schlumberger before joining Oceaneering just over ten years ago as a Project Manager in Stavanger, Norway.  His field experience coupled with his onshore management expertise has positioned Javier as a rising global leader within the energy industry.

Javier has been involved in several multi-client campaigns across the North Sea, from RigChase in Norway and UK to the P&A of the legacy well inventory of the Danish Sector.  Javier most recently oversaw the NexStep campaign, a complex large-scale, vessel-based, multiclient decommissioning campaign that includes 40 mudline suspension wells located in the Dutch sector of the North Sea.

Stephen Brown is the decommissioning team lead at CNR International. In his role Stephen is responsible for project managing CNRI's live decommissioning projects portfolio. His career in decommissioning started with the Murchison decommissioning project and has included projects here in the North Sea and CNRI's West African assets. Most recently Stephen Brown was the Project Manager for the Banff and Kyle decommissioning project.

Stephen lives in Aberdeen with his wife, two energetic pre-school children and their dog. Stephen is also a boat officer with the RNLI on Aberdeen's lifeboat and enjoys spending time at sea.

As Chief Operating Officer at Well-Safe Solutions, Matt leads on all operational aspects – including our plug and abandonment assets, well engineering, project delivery, logistics and HSE functions.

Having been at Well-Safe Solutions since the foundation of the company, Matt has seen Well-Safe move from start-up to the leading Tier 1 well decommissioning company it is today, having overseen the acquisition of our assets, our first contracts and the safe and successful delivery of the company’s initial projects.

With Well-Safe now an established P&A specialist, Matt works with clients, stakeholders and regulators to ensure the decommissioning industry can deliver upon the technical challenges and obligations required of the global energy sector.

Matt joined Well-Safe Solutions from ConocoPhillips UK, where he led well engineering and operations for 14 years across all North Sea assets. During his time at ConocoPhillips, Matt specifically led the development of the well decommissioning team, who set industry-leading benchmarks for Southern North Sea projects.

Matt has a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University and is a Chartered Engineer with the IMechE. Matt was co-chair of the Offshore Energies UK Well Decommissioning workgroup and led the 2017 update to the organisation’s Well Decommissioning Guidelines (Rev 6) at the forefront of well decommissioning in the UK North Sea.

Willem is an accomplished & innovative technical manager (principal engineer) with more than 30 years’ experience in the Oil & Gas industry and possess a diverse technical skillset including a rare combination of experience in Technology Development, Equipment Manufacturing, Well Construction Operations, Well Engineering, Well Integrity, Site Supervision and Project Management.

Willem has degree in Drilling & Production technology (BSc) and in Petroleum Engineering (MEng). After graduating from Heriot Watt University in 1990 Willem moved to Aberdeen to join Marathon Oil as a well operations engineer in the Brae field. Today Willem holds the position of Principal Well Integrity Engineer at Spirit Energy, where he’s responsible for well integrity, well technical assurance & compliance, and P&A related technology development.

Willem is also actively involved in several industry wide well integrity and well decommissioning committees (SPE, OEUK, OGA) and plays a key role in the NZTC Alternative Barrier Collaboration forum.

James is Director of Well Decom at Well-Safe, having joined the company in 2019.  James leads the Well Engineering team at Well-Safe to deliver well decommissioning projects, including the DNO Ketch & Schooner Southern North Sea campaign, and currently the Repsol Buchan & Hannay campaign.

James joined Well-Safe from CNR where he was Well P&A Team Leader, leading the team through the highly successful Ninian Northern Platform P&A Campaign, safely abandoning 24 platform wells in under 12 months.

Prior to CNR, James worked at BG Group, where he started as a graduate engineer working on numerous and varied projects across the globe.

James has been heavily involved in the UKCS P&A Community for the last 8 years, including as co-chair for the OEUK workgroup responsible for this latest update to the Well Decommissioning Guidelines.  

Richard has been involved in decommissioning research since 2008 and is currently Director of the National Decommissioning Centre (NDC) a partnership between the Net Zero Technology Centre (NZTC) and the University of Aberdeen.  He leads the framing of the research focus for the centre which has Chevron, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Shell and the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult as partners.

Mr Bentin studied Business Adminstration and Naval Architecture. He made his doctor degree at the Hiroshima University and is after a career at ThyssenKruppMarineSystem (Shipyard Nordseewerke in Emden) since 2009 Professor for Shiptechnology at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer and dean of the Maritime Faculty. Since 2018 he is the leading project manager of the North Sea Region Interreg project Decom Tools.

Current role, as part of Boskalis Subsea Services, Vikki manages the UK Business Development function which involves direct responsibility for the UKCS client base along with driving the internal and external messaging.  Vikki has a BA Hons in Business Studies and has recently completed a module as part of the MSc Commercial Practice for Energy Sectors. She is passionate about delivering first class customer service and obtaining feedback to ensure a clear understanding of client service requirements to work in a collaborative manner to deliver safe, efficient projects.

Neil is a chartered civil engineer with over eleven years’ experience in offshore structural engineering. This experience comprises decommissioning studies for topsides/jacket removal/abandonment, structural integrity management, as well as multidisciplinary conceptual design studies and engineering management in offshore wind substructure design.

 

He has recently provided structural engineering support to TAQA for Brae Bravo decommissioning. Other recent project work saw Neil working directly for a heavy lift contractor supporting two offshore removal studies at concept and FEED stages. He also has experience in offshore wind where he led multidisciplinary engineering teams through the front end engineering design for a European offshore wind farm.

I work at the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult as a manager in the Analysis and Insights. I am fortunate to work across several different areas, with three key focuses:
The Launch Academy program helps small to medium sized businesses to understand the Offshore Wind market and develop their business case.
I develop techno-economic models to add insight on costs to client projects across the ORE Catapult. Working with engineering teems to understand the innovation and its advantages.
I work with the A&I team to write thought leadership papers to deliver insight to the industry. Currently working on a project to understand the impacts of the REMA process.
Running through the above three focuses is my maintenance of the A&I offshore wind techno-economic model, that is an invaluable tool to develop an estimate of the LCOE of various offshore projects.

Ping Teo is the Decommissioning Manager with IOGP. In her current role, she manages and drives the activities of the IOGP Decommissioning Committee, actively leads the sharing of international experience and good practice. Originally from Brunei, Ping is a Project Engineering manager with 15 years’ industry experience in leading roles in Offshore Greenfield, Brownfield and Decommissioning Projects in Shell in Brunei and New Zealand. As Brunei Shell’s lead decommissioning project manager, she has led a multi-disciplinary team from decommissioning studies phases, through regulatory engagements and to execution of early decommissioning activities and major decommissioning contract development.

Harvey has had 35 years' experience in both Government and Private Sectors. He spent 14 years with the Western Australian Government’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) with roles spanning air quality monitoring, Industry Licensing, Pollution Management and Contaminated Sites.

Harvey joined BP in 2000 in where he undertook roles managing environmental liabilities and onshore decommissioning planning and operations. He also advised BP on environmental management in its upstream NOJVs in Australia. He has managed projects and issues in many countries including Australia, Canada, China, Iraq, Oman, Vietnam, Singapore, UK, and USA.

Harvey has a BSc from the University of Western Australia and a Certificate in Governance Practice from the Governance Institute of Australia.

Ruth Ledingham is the Head of Energy Transition Policy in the Offshore Decommissioning team within the Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning (OPRED). In her role Ruth is responsible for leading on the offshore decommissioning regimes for the sectors that will help support the transition to Net Zero. This covers areas such as electrification, hydrogen, gas storage, other renewables technologies, re-use and re-purposing considerations as well as a range of other related areas including legislation, regulation, guidance and financial implications. 

Audrey became Head of Policy and Projects in the Offshore Decommissioning unit in DECC in November 2013. Her role is to consider the Operational and strategic aspects of decommissioning programmes, ensuring that their proposals meet our international rules and obligations, as well as safety, environmental, technical, economic considerations, and the needs of other users of the sea and to develop the Policies and guidance for decommissioning. She is the Decommissioning representative for OPRED at the OSPAR Offshore Industries Committee and previously held the role of Head of Financial Governance in decommissioning.

Audrey has worked on energy issues in DECC since 2006, including working in PILOT, the oil and gas industry task force to bring forward work on areas across the UKCS, on areas such as technology development, supply chain development, workforce skills, production efficiency, and enhanced oil recovery.

In her previous role as Supply chain and Technology development manager, she developed initiatives to promote the oil and gas industry supply chain and fabrication capability and worked with the Department of Business innovation and skills to produce the UK government’s oil and gas industrial strategy.

Paul is a senior industry leader and executive with over 34 years’ experience in the global energy sector. He has worked for a wide range of companies, including Shell, Marathon Oil, Amoco, BP, Venture Production and Centrica.

He is currently the Director of Robert Gordon University’s Energy Transition Institute, Chair of PlanSea Solutions, a government and industry advisor, a Board member of the International School in Aberdeen and a Professor at Robert Gordon University (UK).

Paul is an experienced non-executive director, with over 25 years of involvement in public, private and voluntary sector organisations.

He is also a regular contributor to industry events and a frequent media commentator on issues and developments in the international energy sector.

Martha has 20 years of experience in Upstream O&G including 10 years at Schlumberger. She leads the decommissioning and asset decarbonization topics globally at BCG.

As Head of Industry and Partner Network, Roger spearheads our solution centre connection to partners, technology developers, supply chain and stakeholders. Roger has more than 25 years’ experience in the oil and gas sector and has held a variety of supply chain leadership positions within companies ranging from SMEs to tier 1 contractors and before joining the Oil & Gas Technology Centre, he was Chief Executive of industry trade organisation Decom North Sea.  

Roger is an active member of the GlobalScot community and is a Chartered Surveyor as well as a fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. 

Shirley is a Partner in the Energy Transactions team within Pinsent Masons LLP.  She is based in the Aberdeen office and is dual qualified in Scotland and in England & Wales.  Shirley has extensive experience of oil and gas work having worked in-house at an international services company for six years before joining private practice.  Shirley leads our decommissioning and re-purposing practice as well as leading our Norway initiative.  Shirley is involved in our O&G response to the Energy Transition including advising clients on the repurposing of infrastructure for hydrogen and CCUS projects.  She also has over 20 years of experience of advising on O&G M&A, field development and joint venture negotiations.  She has spoken at a number of conferences across Europe and Norway and has also delivered be-spoke training to clients.

Kareem is the Senior Carbon Capture and Storage Advisor at OEUK, where he is responsible for developing technical, policy, and commercial deliverables to support the deployment and future operations of CCUS. Kareem’s background is in petroleum engineering, with a key focus on subsurface and wells.

Ian Fozdar is the UK Infrastructure Repurposing Manager with the Oil and Gas Authority, with the primary role of facilitating the repurposing of oil/gas infrastructure in support of the energy transition. Until recently serving as the OGA’s UK Decommissioning Manager, supporting cost-efficient offshore oil/gas decommissioning through performance benchmarking, sharing of good industry practice, and the promotion of an aligned supply chain, Ian has previously worked with ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil and Shell in a range of business, technical and operational leadership positions across the upstream lifecycle, in the UK, continental Europe and South-east Asia.

Alistair has been with the NSTA for 6 years and prior to joining the NSTA Alistair had 25+ yrs experience with a number of operators and service companies working in Finance, Planning and Strategy roles in the UK and overseas.

During his 3 years as SNS/EIS Area Manager the significance of CCS has grown and the development of and stewardship of CCS licences through to permit applications has been an increasing focus of the team.

Jack is an Asset Manager at Spirit Energy with responsibility for building a CCS business centred on the Barrow Gas Terminal and carbon storage in the depleted Morecambe gas fields.

Over the last two years as opportunity owner, Jack has led an integrated team to appraise a wide range of energy transition scenarios for the asset. This has culminated in the creation of an integrated CCS cluster and an application for a carbon storage licence.

In his eight years at Spirit Energy, formerly Centrica E&P, Jack has held a variety of finance and asset management roles. Jack has a background in development engineering and holds a first-class Masters degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh.

Ajay Chopra has over 15 years industry experience working for major and independent operators and a large service company. He has had early involvement in CCS through the Peterhead project between 2012 and 2015. Most recently he was involved in well design for offshore platform & subsea CCS projects in the UK & Dutch sectors including the development of novel and enabling technologies. Ajay is also heavily involved in site selection with a focus on legacy well integrity assessment. Through his work he regularly champion's the need for industry collaboration to solve the challenges that lie ahead and is a keen contributor in helping shape our evolving regulatory regime and guidance on CCS.

Emily Taylor is the North Sea Transition Deal Programme Manager with OEUK, responsible for managing the NSTD with Government, industry and key stakeholders. Previously, Emily was Programme Delivery Manager and latterly the Interim Executive Director with Step Change in Safety. In 2018 Emily was awarded the William Floyd Award for Innovation at the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors conference, organised in partnership with Robert Gordon’s University. She was also commended as Young Professional of the Year at the Offshore Achievement Awards in 2017. In her spare time, Emily plays the violin and likes to fly fish.

With over thirty-years’ management experience Neil was appointed as chief executive of Subsea UK in 2011 which subsequently transitioned into the Global Underwater Hub in 2021. During this time, he effectively led the self-sustaining organisation through both its most challenging and most successful periods. During his stewardship, the organisation has taken a leading role in discussions with political and industry stakeholders about the future of the industry and the support required to maintain the UK’s world-leading position. 

Under his leadership, the subsea industry has transitioned to become recognised as a stand-alone industry operating in diverse sectors, including oil and gas, offshore wind, marine renewables, defence, ocean science, subsea mining and aquaculture. He has effectively negotiated and delivered partnerships and alliances with industry bodies and government agencies in the key sectors, across the UK and around the world. 

His early career involved managing and developing businesses, some which he owned and also worked offshore as a commercial diver. Prior to joining Subsea UK, he spent four years managing the National Hyperbaric Centre building a strong credible reputation working and developing with the subsea sector throughout the world including India, Middle east, Africa and Brazil.  

Project Manager with 19 years in the energy industry, 16 of those with bp. I have worked a variety of projects across a range of locations from Alaska, USA to Aberdeen and Oman. I joined the bp decommissioning team in 2018 and have supported several projects and regions, most recently delivering the safe and compliant off-station of the Foinaven FPSO.

As Chief Executive of the ECITB, Chris Claydon is committed to working with the engineering construction industry to deliver a highly skilled workforce for the nation’s critical infrastructure, and enabling the industry to compete globally.    

Chris spent 30 years in the Army and has significant experience in running large operations in the UK and overseas as well as managing complex change. His experience also includes six years working on defence policy and strategy with government departments in Whitehall. He initially trained as a military helicopter pilot and much of his career has been spent working with professional engineers.

Chris holds a MA in Defence Technology from Cranfield University.

Shozey Jafferi currently leads the Energy Transition & Network Infrastructure at the Department for International Trade. Previously the department’s Decommissioning and Energy Transition Specialist, Shozey has worked closely with Operators and supported UK supply chain companies to identify and participate in securing contracts for global decommissioning projects. He is a member of the Decommissioning Export Strategy Working Group which was established following the publication of the North Sea Transition Deal, tasked with helping to define how industry bodies and government can support UK companies gain a larger slice of international decommissioning projects.

Shozey began his career in the Civil Service with roles covering policy development focused on international trade. He has also previously been posted overseas to the British Consulate-General in Hong Kong (2000/01) and was the Head of Commercial Section at the British Embassy in Kazakhstan in 2003.

Following his posting in Kazakhstan, Shozey remained in the country when he was appointed Regional Business Development Manager at the British / Kazakh JV, Denholm Zholdas LLC before becoming the FSU Regional Director at Global Process Systems, a major EPC contractor Headquartered in the Middle East. As part of a restructuring at the company, Shozey relocated from Kazakhstan to Malaysia in 2010 to manage their Southeast Asia business where he grew the business considerably across the region.

He returned to Kazakhstan as FSU & Caspian Regional Director for Hydratight Ltd before re-joining the Department for International Trade.

I am a chartered project professional with over 23 years’ experience working in the Oil and Gas sector,15 of those in Major Capital Projects. I have managed projects for over 10 years and transferred these skills into the decommissioning sector in 2014. I now work in the Decommissioning Directorate within EnQuest where we take mature assets to the end of their productive life and decommission them in a safe, efficient and environmentally responsible manner. Thinking this was going to be a short assignment before returning to Capital Projects I have never looked back. The challenge of decommissioning offshore installations in this sector is just too big to be drawn away from.

Mark Wilson is the Health, Safety, Environment & Operations Director, for Offshore Energies UK and supports HSE & operational arrangements for the UK offshore assets.  This role also includes the OEUK resilience lead focussing on both COVID-19 and security of supply aspects in relation to the Ukraine crisis.

Having spent the first part of his career with the British Army as a mechanical engineer, Mark joined ConocoPhillips and for seven years he held HSE and operational roles both on and offshore, including as an Offshore Installation Manager.  He then moved to EnQuest as the HSE Director, which also included being the COVID-19 lead, the Group enterprise risk co-ordinator, and emission management focal point.

Mark is the Sustainability Ambassador for the Aberdeen and Grampian Branch of the Institute of Directors, holds an MBA and is a Chartered Engineer.

Alasdair has had a career in the oil and gas industry with a super Major energy company spanning over 30 years. He has held a variety of operations and project engineering roles spanning upstream and downstream, most latterly in Major Project Engineering Management roles for new build projects across UKCS.

Alasdair joined the OGA, now NSTA in April 2021 in the Decommissioning Manager’s role.

David Wilson is Decommissioning & Projects Director for TAQA UK. David joined TAQA in 2020 where he previously held the role of Technical Director. During his 30-year career in the oil and gas industry, David has held several senior roles leading engineering and project teams in the UK, China, Korea, West Africa, Norway and the United States. He has significant experience in the decommissioning arena and was involved in TAQA’s safe and successful Brae Bravo decommissioning programme from initiation to execution. David graduated with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Robert Gordon University.

Teresa has 25 years’ oil and gas experience covering both development and decommissioning projects.  Before joining what is now Repsol Sinopec in 2011 Teresa worked for KBR, Wood and Shell.  Teresa has held several positions within the Repsol Sinopec decommissioning team from project engineer through to Decommissioning Technical Manager. 

Teresa has a BENG Hons in Chemical & Process Engineering from Newcastle University and an MSc in Business Management & Economics from Aberdeen University.

Mike, an ICAS qualified Chartered Accountant, has worked in the oil and gas industry for almost 25 years, initially for ConocoPhillips followed by Chrysaor and now Harbour Energy. His experience spans a broad variety of roles in Finance, Commercial and Operations before moving into Decommissioning in 2016.

Mike is responsible for the strategy, integration and financial planning for Harbour's decommissioning portfolio covering active projects and late life assets. Harbour have been decommissioning their extensive Southern North Sea portfolio since 2014 and also have ongoing projects in the Central North Sea and East Irish Sea. 

Walter is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of THREE60 Energy Group. As a senior leader with three decades of experience in the energy industry, he leads the strategic growth of the group’s four service lines spanning subsurface, wells, engineering & construction and operations across the UK, Norway and South East Asia.

His proven leadership skills, passion for safe delivery, innovation, and dedication to addressing industry needs, has seen the group deliver a flexible, value-driven service to a growing global customer base since its inception.

This has seen the group support some of the most complex, challenging and important projects in the energy sector under Walter’s leadership, from late life operations to decommissioning, with a continual focus on differentiated contractual models that ultimately lower abandonment costs. In addition, the group is actively delivering low carbon solutions to support a net zero economy mainly in wind, CCS and geothermal.

He has significant experience both in the UK and International markets and has previously served as a director on the O&G UK board, as well as Chairman of the O&G UK efficiency task force and is now currently Chairman of the OEUK Decommissioning Forum Steering Committee.
